Burn Season Opens
Cal Fire advises the open burn season is now in effect for unincorporated areas of Santa Cruz County through Apr. 30, 2010. However, open burning may only be conducted on designated burn days. Restrictions include only yard trimmings and brush for one- and two-family dwellings; maximum pile size of four feet in diameter; a 10-foot clear area around the burn pile; and a connected garden hose readily available.

Cal Fire also recommends checking with local fire departments to determine if a permit is required. To determine authorized burn days, call 800-225-2876.
