Due to special weather conditions, an impressive event was recorded on Friday in Atoko, a rocky island administratively owned by Ithaca and a member of the Natura 2000 network.
According to the photos posted on social networks, even though we are in the middle of July, Adokos looks like it is covered in snow.

According to Ithaca-based amateur meteorologist Luca Anagnostado, team manager of the Weather Station Ithaca-Greece, similar images appeared on the Apheles coast north of Ithaca.
Based on data collected by Loukas Anagnostatos, the temperature in the north of Ithaca at the same time was 27.6 °C with 87% humidity and in the south 34.6 °C with 19% humidity.
How did this event happen?
The images above are due to the phenomenon of sea fog. Evaporation fog, or sea smoke, that formed Friday in Atoko is a type of fog that forms over the surface of oceans when the air temperature is relatively low, while there is a large, relative temperature difference between the air and the air. the sea
The phenomenon of sea fog mainly manifests in spring or summer because it is the temperature difference between land and sea surface that is greater. This type of fog is commonly found over oceans, lakes, and rivers of high latitudes, and also over arctic oceans (Arctic sea smoke).
