If you’ve been following Menshouse at all – which you will be here, you’re definitely reading it – you’ll see that we write a lot about the movies and recommend what to see on the platforms. So it’s strange that we haven’t caught up to Interstellar yet who is in it Netflix.
Released in 2014, just a few months after McConaughey won an Oscar for The Dallas Buyers, it was Christopher Nolan’s first film in 7 years after he focused on the Batman trilogy project and released Inception.
Interstellar is one of the best science fiction films of the past 20 years, and it is no coincidence that all astrophysicists recognize it as being as sincere as can be in its references to astrophysics and space, how black holes might work, and how humanity might. Tame time and chaos.
Cooper is a retired NASA pilot who lost his wife and is raising his two children with the help of his father-in-law.
The global situation in terms of climate change is on the path to a complete catastrophe. The soil now yields only corn and a few other fruits, but rejects many fruits which men have taken for granted.
Cooper still looks beyond Earth and believes humanity was not made to die on Earth, but rather to leave it and travel through space, until it can find a new place to live.
As if propelled by an invisible force, he found a small NASA rocket in the air and tracked it until he caught it. Together with his daughter, the wonderful Morph, they track down the coordinates that he points to and go to the place.
There they discover that NASA, which they knew was out of business, is functioning normally, but is undercover so as not to provoke reactions that money is being spent on space travel, while people on Earth are dying of starvation.
Cooper is the best pilot available and NASA reveals to him that they started a mission, Lazarus, 10 years ago, by sending 12 ships to 12 places on the planet where there might be a viable place for life to exist. 12 manned vehicles went on a suicide mission.

Cooper has been called to make a big decision: to lead humanity to its own salvation, but knowing he will never see his children again, and maybe they won’t survive or will he stay on Earth and die all together?
In the end, he chooses the first and the path to the black hole at the end of our solar system, but also to another galactic system, will take him away from the destruction of the Earth. But will they offer humanity a way to survive?
Christopher Nolan leaves no room for doubt with Interstellar. His music penetrates you deeply. It makes you realize how small you are in front of the vast universe. It makes you float in an absolute void and only care about the moment.
Then the story itself. A father who is destined to save humanity, but who will be deprived of life away from his children. To reach even younger than his children, because the journey away from the sun delays his old age for decades. And in the middle are the necessary losses, but also betrayal and the search for love.
Love is the only constant in the universe. It mobilizes everything, it is the ninth dimension, where space and time become one.
On a spiritual level, on an emotional level, and therefore on an artistic level, Interstellar is one of the scariest movie cases. It contains a lot of knowledge, perfectly blended with imagination, and shaped by the shadow of love, which is overly filling after the 3-hour scene.
It is advised to view with company, ideally as your partner.
