The fire broke out at noon (17:00) in Fournos Corseons. The focus is located in the area of the old quarry and is not brought under control, while it is visible from Ikaria.
The fire, reported by ikiriaki.gr, is burning far from houses and agricultural facilities, but people are on alert in case it gets closer, waiting for fire brigades from Samos or Ikaria.
While the fire brigade from Samos has already entered the firefighting battle, the Municipality of Ikaria announced on its Facebook page that 10 volunteer firefighters with 2 vehicles will assist in the firefighting project. At 11 pm the troops will be transported by the “catching” liner to Evtilos.
Since the fire front in Fornos has not yet been contained, the Municipality of Ikaria will help with this task…
