However, this also happened, elsewhere, in Japan. The glass fish that was “playing” a video game was able to connect to a Nintendo Switch, change its owner’s avatar, create a Pay Pal account and charge his credit card.

And it all happened in real time and live.

Incredible story history

The fish with said special skills belongs to YouTuber Mutekimaru, who owns a popular channel known in gaming circles for his videos starring tetra fish “playing” video games.

Mutekimaru had previously installed sophisticated motion-sensing software in his aquarium, which allowed fish to remotely control the Nintendo Switch console.

However, technology, and apparently the fish’s “mastery”, took an unexpected turn a few days earlier, while Mutekimaru was broadcasting a live Pokémon game.

He got up to rest while the game “crashed” due to a system error and the console returned to the home screen. However, the fish continued swimming and – as is typical of fish – managed to yank the console out of the water.

Over the next seven hours, the fish reportedly managed to change the owner’s name on its Switch account before logging into the Nintendo Store — where videographers can purchase games and other content — twice.

They were also able to “check” the legal terms and conditions box, download a new avatar, create a PayPal account, even send the relevant email to their owner about the process, and charge 500 yen ($4) to Mutekimaru’s credit card, all in a live stream. , as thousands of viewers watch the accidental purchase.

The incident goes viral, with Mutekimaru later revealing that he exposed his card details to the public, causing an online frenzy, with thousands of users commenting on what happened before their eyes.

Mutekimaru later reports that he has contacted Nintendo, explaining what happened and requesting a 500 yen refund.
