It’s been a mess for the past 24 hours regarding the upgraded console. Sonythe Playstation 5 ProA trusted industry insider has shared some interesting information while also giving the public a glimpse of what the console will look like.

More specifically, Billbil-kun stated that the console will in fact be called the PlayStation 5 Pro. At the same time, he revealed that it will be slightly thicker than the original PS5, but it will use the same faceplates that are on the market.

In fact, it revealed that it will be announced in mid-September, possibly alongside the much-talked-about State of Play. Additionally, it claims that the console will feature the same DualSense controller.

Billbil-kun claims that there will usually be a digital version of the console, but he’s not sure if there will be a disc-drive variant. Through his site: Deals He also provided a picture/sketch of what it would look like and you can see it below:

The PS5 Pro will have a memory bandwidth of 576GB/s (18GB/s) – that’s a 28% increase over the regular PS5. The regular PS5 has a memory bandwidth of 448GB/s (14GB/s).

The PS5 Pro’s CPU will be the same as the regular PS5. However, the Pro console will feature a “CPU High Frequency Mode” that will boost the processor’s clock speed to 3.85GHz. This is a 10% increase over the current console. However, it should be noted that in CPU High Frequency Mode, power will be distributed from the GPU to the CPU and therefore the GPU’s clock speed will need to be reduced by 1.5%.

The PS5 Pro will be 45% faster in rendering than the PS5. The PS5 Pro will have 2X to 3X better ray tracing performance (up to 4X in many cases) and a total of 33.5 TFLOPS of GPU processing power.

You can find out more about the specs by clicking here. One reporter also said the console could cost between $600 and $700 when it launches. Click here for more.

Of course, since we’re talking about leaks and rumors, it’s best to take all of the above with a grain of salt until Sony officially announces “something.”
