According to Italian media, the fishermen stole the engine of the seven-meter iron boat, on which thirty-four migrants and refugees were traveling. They had left Sfax, Tunisia, for the coast of Lower Italy.

The tragic accident occurred in the search and rescue area of ​​Italy, and the coast guard in Rome, together with the economic police, were mobilized immediately, to help the shipwrecked.

Also last night, another iron boat sank south of Sicily and the Italian Coast Guard rescued 46 people (including seven minors and thirteen women).
