Joe Girardi was a player in Major League Baseball and, at the time of writing, his net worth was $15 million.

He was born in 1964 in Peoria, Illinois, and college baseball had him playing close to home for Northwestern University Wildcats.

Girardi made his Major League Baseball debut on April 4th of 1989.

 

Joe Girardi’s Career

Girardi has spent the majority of his playing career with the Cubs, Rockies, Yankees, Cubs twice again, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Marlins.

He has been an MLB All-Star three times and won a World Series each in 1996 with the Yankees, 1998 with the Yankees and 1999 with the Yankees. He was also on a World Series winning team for six other times as a player as well.

After retiring as a player in 2006 he became manager of both Florida Marlins and New York Yankees teams until 2014 when he became manager of the Chicago Cubs.

Girardi has accumulated 726 wins to 571 losses during his time managing and has won one World Series Championship in 2009.

Joe Girardi was born to Jerry (a retired blue-collar worker and United States Air Force veteran) and Angela Girardi in Peoria, Illinois.

He spent his childhood in East Peoria, Illinois, and attended the Spalding Institute. Joe Girardi attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. From 1983-1986, he played baseball for the Northwestern University Wildcats and received All-Big Ten honors twice.

He also earned three Academic All-America selections. He played summer baseball with Cotuit Ketleers in 1984.

In 1986, he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor. He became the first freshman to be elected head of a fraternity at Northwestern University.

Joe Girardi’s wife is Kim Innocenzi-Girardi and the couple have three children named Serena, Dante, and Lena Yvonne Girardi.
