Madonna reveals the moment she nearly killed her stage career

Pop singer Madonna may have one of the most impressive careers in music history, but the “Vogue” singer revealed that a wardrobe malfunction three decades ago nearly ended her career.

The 63-year-old shared a cheeky pick-me-up during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday, decked out in a plethora of “Christmas roasts” in true Madonna style.

The star joined forces with Fallon to promote her new album “Finally Enough Love,” one of the singer’s favorite dance songs.

While the album celebrates Madonna’s record number of best songs, the star revealed her iconic performance of “Like a Virgin” during the first-ever MTV Video Music Awards in 1984 that almost got cancelled.

When the 26-year-old took to the MTV stage to perform the hit song, her dagger slipped from under her, causing the singer to dive in to pick her up — accidentally flipping her dress and exposing her behind in the process.

“Those were the days when you didn’t have to show your ass to get a job,” the star joked. “Now it’s the opposite.”

Madonna recalled that her backstage actors considered her career “over” after the occasional flash,

“It wasn’t completely like that! It was like a back of the cheek Half Madonna argued to the audience.

Fallon also reminded audiences that Like a Virgin wasn’t supposed to be the single, since producer Neil Rodgers wanted it to be a “material girl.”

“Those were the days when I had no say in anything,” said the Grammy Award winner. “Can you imagine those days even existed?”

Despite the fears of her longtime actors, Madonna’s career was not over after the occasional flash on stage. Her new album, which celebrates her 50 #1 songs on the Billboard singles charts, was released earlier this summer, with a CD and vinyl version released on August 19.
