# Financial As part of the drafting of a new Mali constitution, a workshop was held Thursday in Bamako to exchange experiences on “General principles of law in the process of reviewing and drafting new constitutions during political transitions”.

In particular, the workshop aimed to conduct technical, comparative, retrospective and prospective reflection on the nature of these general, intangible constitutional principles in the process of drafting the new Mali constitution. The meeting was attended by the body of the Constitutional Court of Mali, members of the Ministry of Regional Administration and Decentralization, as well as members of the Department for the Reestablishment of the State in charge of Relations with Institutions.

During the work, the experts also deepened the reflection on the definition of the powers of the President of the Republic, the criminal status of the President of the Republic, the content of high treason and its constituent elements. The work also focused on how to respect the separation between the three powers, executive, legislative and judicial.

Note that this meeting was a joint initiative of IDEA and the Constitutional Court, in partnership with the Financial Center for Inter-Party Dialogue and Democracy (CMDID), the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). ).
