New Philadelphia: ‘This is how I caught my 14-year-old son’s would-be kidnapper’ – Newsbomb – News

The minor’s father narrates the dramatic moments when he metamorphosed and handed over his son’s would-be abductor to the police – as per the chargesheet.

The 14-year-old boy’s father, who was watching the 55-year-old man home, found him before he could walk away and essentially handed him over to authorities. Now, the 55-year-old – who is a father of two – is being prosecuted for more serious crimes, specifically attempted kidnapping of a minor.

The incident happened around noon on Saturday, just after 3 p.m. on one of Athens’ central streets, Tagelias in New Philadelphia.

A 14-year-old boy was waiting at a bus stop and talking to a friend.

The boy’s father, speaking exclusively to the Star, described how the 55-year-old overheard his child’s conversation and approached him:

“The defendant was drinking beer in the booth. He heard my child’s dialogue with his friend and said, “Come, let me take you.” My son refused, he suggested it several times and left. My child kept the plates and informed me, and I immediately took to the streets with the car and started looking for the man. By chance I saw him go up to Decelias. I turned and followed him.”He argued.

Father began to chase the vehicle up to Metamorphosi. At Iero Lochos in Metamorfosi, he managed to stop the 55-year-old vehicle. Moments later, police arrived at the scene and handcuffed the man.

“I said to him ‘Well aren’t you ashamed? You went and said that to a kid?’ It all went black. I took him out of the car through the window. I didn’t hit him. He said, ‘I made a mistake, I’m sorry.’ I called the police,” said the 14-year-old’s father.

On his part, the accused reportedly told the police that he had no ill intentions and offered to take the child home.

The accused, a father of two, is expected to give a statement to the investigating officer next Wednesday.
