Precocious puberty can negatively affect a person and occurs when he has to take on responsibilities at an early age, whether towards the family or for his upbringing and survival.

While early maturity and responsibility can lead to impressive short-term accomplishments, the long-term effects can be detrimental.

As these children move into adulthood, the pressures and expectations they face can manifest in different ways. The effects often carry over into adulthood, impacting behaviors, emotional responses, and overall well-being in ways that are not immediately visible but still important.

Some characteristics that may indicate that someone is experiencing a growth spurt include:

1. He is very afraid of failure.

Often, children who are forced to grow up suddenly tend to become perfectionists as adults. According to a survey, this perfectionism stems from pressure to meet high expectations and criticism from outside sources. As a result, children set high standards for themselves, influenced by adult standards. When their performance does not meet their standards or when they face external criticism, they may also evaluate themselves negatively. This constant pressure to perform can lead to a fear of failure in adulthood.

2. He finds it difficult to enjoy quiet time.

Children who are deprived of play during childhood often have difficulty relaxing and enjoying leisure activities as adults. The inability to relax and take advantage of quiet time during childhood can manifest in adulthood in different ways, such as feeling guilty about taking time off, difficulty enjoying hobbies, and difficulty “being in the present.”

3. Not connected to the child inside him

Free time is essential for creativity and play. When children are deprived of this freedom, they miss out on important opportunities to develop and hone their creative skills.

A 2021 study found that workers experienced a significant boost in creativity after returning from vacation, highlighting the importance of downtime in fostering creative thinking. This association highlights why people, without these formative play experiences during childhood, struggle to fully develop and nurture their creative abilities in adulthood.

When an adult is not in touch with their inner child, they may not participate in leisure activities and lack creativity.
