Paris, May 2. The French Cuban Association today condemned the United States’ insistence on accepting the role of the Supreme Court in democracy and human rights in its attempt to exclude Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the US IX Summit.
In a statement to Brenza Latina, the organization, which has worked in solidarity with the island for more than six decades, noted that Washington recognizes its policy of unilaterally allowing non-compliant countries.
Cuba, in the voice of its foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, condemned a week ago the US intention to exclude it from the forum scheduled for June in Los Angeles.
A few days later, invitations to Brian Nichols, Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Havana, Managua and Caracas were not yet extended.
According to the French Association, Washington’s conduct is unacceptable, using its dual standards as excuses for ultimately denying democracy and human rights when it blatantly violates those principles.
