Google I acknowledged the problem in the service’s official community, explaining that it affects a limited subset of users of the Google Drive desktop app.
Specifically, Google has identified a sync bug affecting Drive desktop versions 84.0.0.0 to 84.0.4.0. One user explained how he lost his entire Google Drive data history since May, and only discovered the shocking data loss last week.
Despite the fact that Google Support has guided the user through possible ways to recover data, such as restoring backups, the disappeared content remains unrecoverable as of now. Currently, more than 190 people have reported that they are experiencing the same issue, with concerned commenters describing almost identical situations.
In response, a member of the Google Drive team Warning users no
