Brexit: A big demonstration of Great Britain’s return to the European Union

Thousands of supporters of Great Britain’s return to the European Union demonstrated in central London on Saturday.

Hundreds of people dressed in blue and carrying European Union flags filled the sidewalks before marching through the city streets.

About 3,000 people participated in the march, which had a final destination, The Independent reported, at Parliament Square, where speakers, including former Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, addressed the gathered crowd.

The demonstrators raised banners before the march expressing their dissatisfaction with leaving the European Union, such as “The road to returning to the European Union begins from here.”

Another sign read: “Conservatives out, immigrants are welcome.” Re-joining the European Union.

“I think everyone, young and old, can see that this is a disaster,” says Eric Stock, 23, who was covered in blue paint from head to toe.

The march comes in the wake of what the Independent newspaper revealed that Labor Party leader Keir Starmer secretly met with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding Britain’s exit from the European Union. He also said he wanted to improve the Brexit deal and not negotiate a return to the EU, a common currency and a customs union.

Madeleine Kay, 29, believes the country took an ugly and darker turn after the Brexit referendum in 2016.

“Politicians have failed us and we are seeing the consequences. They have taken away our costs of living and our rights.”

It is noteworthy that the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in a referendum held in June 2016, which was announced by then Prime Minister David Cameron.
