Tottenham remained fourth in the Premier League after a 2-0 win over Chelsea left them just short of the European tickets.

The London derby ended at the hands of Tottenham in festive fashion. the 2-0 Above Chelsea, not only did they keep Antonio Conte’s side in fourth place and extend their gap to Liverpool, it also left the ‘Blues’ short of a European ticket after 25 Premier League appearances.

The match was even though the hosts scored a goal in the first half. Failure to judge Hakim Zygis in injury time (the referee watched the situation on video and changed his decision) maintained this balance, but not for long.

At the start of the second half, Oliver Skip scored his first goal in a Tottenham shirt and gave his team the momentum to chase another goal. Graham Potter made the first attacking change (he had put on Wesley Fofana in the 19th minute due to an injury to Thiago Silva) it was Denis Zakaria and Mason Mount, but to no avail.

Harry Kane made it 2-0 from close range in the 82nd minute and the introduction of Michael Mondrick and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set Chelsea up for a sixth successive match winless in all competitions.
