From the depths of space, NASA has beamed high-definition video using new laser technology.
The video appears 15 seconds long A cat named Tatters To chase the pointer using a laser beam.
The cat belongs to an employee of NASA’s Gas Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in California.
The video was uploaded to a spacecraft that lifted off on a SpaceX rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on October 13 and was broadcast on December 11.
like BBC reportsThe shots traveled more than 30 million kilometers, or about 80 times the distance between Earth and the Moon, at speeds faster than broadband connections.
NASA hoped that the laser technology it was testing would improve communications with distant parts of the solar system.
The US agency is looking into technologies that can transmit content from deep space to Earth, as radio frequencies struggle to handle the volume of data needed to transmit high-quality images and videos over long distances.
