The ability to color and change the position of icons brings iOS 18 – Apple

Greater flexibility and removal of unnecessary restrictions are said to be built into the next version of Apple’s operating system.

According to press informationiOS 18 will provide users with greater customization options on the iPhone home screen. In addition to being able to place icons freely, rather than being limited as they are now to a padded box, Apple plans to offer the ability to customize icons as its own feature for the first time.

Specifically, according to a report by Mark German, iOS 18 will allow users to change the color of app icons. For example, they could color all social media apps blue and all banking apps red.

Currently, it is possible to customize the home screen to individual user preferences in an indirect way, such as creating shortcuts on the home screen to activate a specific application, but the whole process is rather complicated.

With iOS 18, it looks like this feature will become a fully supported feature. It is still unclear whether the icons will be freely customizable or replaced with any image that each user desires, or whether the system will simply allow colors to be changed while keeping the same icon.

iOS 18 is scheduled to be officially announced in a few weeks, during Apple’s annual WWDC developer conference, which will be held this year on June 10. Apple will present new versions of its operating systems, including iOS 18, while a special focus is expected to be placed on artificial intelligence functions.

In addition to these features, as well as improvements in managing the main screen of the iPhone, Apple is also expected to work on enhancing many of the applications that come with the iPhone with new features, as part of what has been described as the most important operating system updates to date.
