A 22-year-old woman was sentenced to six months in jail and three years behind bars after she was arrested after she left her four-month-old baby in a car in a department store parking lot to go shopping. Suspended by the three-man criminal court of Thessaloniki.
On the other hand, her friend was released on the verbal orders of the prosecutor.

In her apology, the 22-year-old woman admitted her wrongdoing and apologized.
“I took it with me because I had no place to leave it. I left it because I was breastfeeding all the way. The baby was tired. He fell asleep when we got there. I went to get some things and will come back. There were a lot of people at the checkout, that’s why I was late, ” said the defendant, a mother of three minor children, in her apology.
According to the case file, the incident took place at noon yesterday, in eastern Thessaloniki, when the child was alone in the vehicle for at least 40 minutes.
“She was in a child seat, the car was locked and the window was half open. The baby woke up and was crying,” said a female eyewitness, who described the immediate action and “the baby’s smile” in her statement (read out in court).
