The Day Before: A Planned Delay Finally – An Emphatic Response to Accusations of ‘Fraud’

The past 24 hours have been chaotic for the development team WonderfulWhich I decided to postpone waiting for several months yesterday. In particular, the game’s official Discord community and social media have been filled with accusations that the game is of some kind “scam”, After it disappeared from Steam. The team has been accused of never showing real gameplay footage, and now that it promised to release such footage, the game was suddenly delayed by nearly a year.

Now, given that the background behind the delay was a bit outlandish, the studio has come out to clarify the situation once and for all, even making some emphatic statements for those who were quick to blame it. More specifically, FNTASTIC admitted that the delay was ultimately premeditated.

Talking to IGN, the studio indicated that it wanted to announce the delay with the release of the 10-minute gameplay video, but eventually came to a trademark issue that changed its plans. In fact, Fantastic has hit back at all those who question it, asserting that it never takes money from the world and that everyone who has been quick to accuse it will see the finished product for themselves in November.

Below you can read all the new data in detail:

Fantastic’s new statements about postponing the previous day:

We planned to release the game early and planned to announce it with Mytona Publishing Company in a 10-minute gameplay video. Then you all know what happened. So, to be sure, to ensure that there are no further delays, we checked with the issuing company on November 10th. This is a safe date given the controversy surrounding trademarks.

We are very confident that this matter will be resolved, as we have strong legal partners. The extra time will allow us to better prepare for release and make overall improvements to the game. We will release it more “polished”, improved and full of content.

FNTASTIC’s emphatic response to those who think the game is a “scam”:

For us and millions of people, The Day Before is a childhood dream come true. It is a game about zombies and other people in a huge post-apocalyptic city with skyscrapers. We understand that some, without seeing the big picture, may have doubts about the game. However, all our attention has always been on the product itself.

We have been making the game for four years. All these years of sweat and blood went into making this game, and for many of our team members it is unpleasant to hear such accusations. We didn’t get a penny from people: not from crowdfunding, not from pre-orders, not from donations. The game was fully sponsored by Mytona, one of the world’s largest mobile game publishers, who checked the state of the game at every stage according to our contract.

We made a real “inner discovery” when we decided to test our abilities, with great challenges from scratch – so big that some would consider impossible. We took a fascinating journey from the ends of the earth, feeling like that simple guy from the 90’s action movies. You may remember him as the hero who breaks through the veil of infidelity, the one in whom no one believes, but who finds the inner strength to win and finally prove his worth to everyone.

We only believe in the final product. No matter what everyone says, you will find out for yourself on the 10th of November this year. We hope, after the success of the game, to give people faith that this life, if you stick to a dream, will come true despite obstacles and doubts.

In case you want a refresher, The Day Before is billed as an open-world survival MMO, set in a post-apocalyptic America full of zombies and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars. The game appears to combine elements from other cult titles like The Last of Us, DayZ, and The Division, and has intrigued the community since its first trailer, which went viral.
