The new Ford Mustang is offered in coupe and convertible versions with sharper design inspired by the model's history, while featuring a revolutionary digital experience and enhanced performance and capability in a track environment.
The new Ford Mustang ushers in a new chapter in the history of a true performance icon and the world's best-selling sports car by introducing an innovative digital cockpit, a cutting-edge new V8 engine and a fresh, sharper design to appeal to a new generation of Mustang fans.
In 2024, the Ford Mustang celebrates 60 years of continuous production. In that time, more than 10 million units have been sold, and the Mustang has appeared in thousands of films, television, musicals and video games. At the same time it became the most popular car in the world on Facebook.
The new Ford Mustang takes the model's legendary performance to new levels with upgraded hardware, software and settings, as well as a new fourth-generation 5.0-liter V8 engine generating 446 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. The Mustang GT's engine is equipped with a new intake system with dual air intake and two throttle bodies.
All of the above are aimed at reducing intake losses and achieving a higher airflow rate for better performance. At low revs, one throttle valve opens for efficiency, while the second opens simultaneously at higher revs to maximize power output.
High and low pressure direct and indirect injection work together in harmony to provide increased torque and power at low and high revs respectively. The fourth-generation 5.0L V8 also features a polymer-coated forged steel crankshaft to reduce friction and increase durability, and specially designed connecting rods for reliable operation at high rpm.
New intake and exhaust camshafts control the large-diameter valves, while the Ti-VCT variable camshaft timing system ensures optimal power distribution across the rev range. Up to six drive profiles are available to optimize the performance of your new Ford Mustang in different driving scenarios.
Available drive modes are Normal, Sport, Slippery, Tow and Track, 4 while a customizable setting allows the driver to fine-tune the Mustang to his or her personal preference. By selecting each driving mode, the high-resolution, high-quality graphics on the digital instrument panel are adapted to the individual modes.
The car's responsiveness has been upgraded, thanks to improved suspension geometry that contributes to reducing understeer. The faster steering reduction ratio, in turn, improves the new Mustang's cornering dynamics. The rev-matching system maintains engine revs during low-speed manual shifting to ensure smooth engagement of the next gear.
It is standard on the Mustang GT and provides increased precision and a refined feel to the driver. The Mustang GT is available with a 10-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. The Performance Package is standard and includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, a limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, and an active valve exhaust that ensures engine sounds depending on the driving mode selected.
The optional MagneRide active suspension monitors road conditions a thousand times a second and uses electronically controlled fluid to adjust damping as needed. With the visual appeal and functionality of a traditional mechanical handbrake, the electronically controlled drift brake “unlocks” the drifting capability of a rear-drive Mustang.
The high-performance electronic parking brake is designed for both novice drivers who want to learn and improve their drifting skills, as well as providing more experienced people with a race-ready system. Inside, the seventh-generation Mustang features a technologically advanced, driver-centered cockpit that perfectly blends Mustang heritage with cutting-edge technology.
The traditional upper part of the dashboard with its distinctive double 'eyebrows' has now given way to a streamlined, more open, glass-lined design, providing a cleaner and more attractive environment for the driver. Behind the new steering wheel with a flat bottom and thicker rim for better control is a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster.
The panel can be configured to display different display layouts and new customizable graphics depending on the driving mode. This digital instrument cluster flows seamlessly into a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 center display. Both screens are noticeably tilted towards the driver, behind the same integrated piece of glass.
Its ergonomic location also ensures a clear view of the information it presents and easy access to the various controls, which come together to create an immersive digital experience. The fully customizable digital displays that create the displays, as well as the Mustang's interior lighting, feature dark colors and copper tones.
As the car approaches, moving lighting and unique Mustang displays greet the driver. In general, the displays and lighting in the cabin can be customized, adapting to the specific driving situation. When the designated driver (drive mode) is selected, the vehicle settings screen appears on the center display.
This is done using Unreal Engine 3D software, a computer game engine that can create graphics by analyzing and generating real-time images. The car's settings can be adjusted by interacting with the touchscreen – a swipe rotates the car on the screen for a 360-degree view.
A bold new pattern has been developed for the leather seats, soft-touch plastics on the instrument panel and door trim, as well as the all-leather steering wheel in the new Mustang. The new Mustang benefits from colorful decorative stitching on the steering wheel and a unique perforated upholstery pattern across the center console, which is complemented by color-matched asymmetrical decorative stripes on the seat belts.
Replacing and “moving” physical switches and controls for functions such as air conditioning to the touchscreen created additional space on the center console for storing personal items and installed a surface for wireless charging of smartphones.
The new Mustang and Mustang Dark Horse are now available to order in Greece as well. The starting price of €76,295 for Ford's flagship 446bhp coupe is a very attractive proposition for anyone who wants to stand out. The more impressive convertible, which has the same technical characteristics but with a 10-speed automatic transmission, starts at €86,324, while for the higher-performance Dark Horse with 454 hp and a 6-speed manual transmission, prices start at €92,052. (96,061 euros with 10-speed automatic transmission).
