Apple Tests M3 Max MacBook Pro with 16 CPU Cores and 40 GPU Cores – Apple

Apple’s M1 and M2 series chips have received positive reviews for their efficiency and performance, making them popular choices for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptop series.

Now, Apple is said to be testing its most powerful laptop chipset, the M3 Max, which can provide more power for business users.

according to Mark GormanWell known by Apple’s reliable information, the M3 Max SoC could have 16 CPU cores (12 high-performance cores and four efficiency cores) and 40 GPU cores in at least one version. This particular configuration of the computer also includes 48 GB of RAM. By comparison, today’s pricier 16-inch MacBook Pro has 12 CPU cores, 38 GPU cores, and 16 Neural Engine cores, with up to 96GB of RAM and up to 8TB of SSD storage.

The MacBook Pro with the M3 Max is expected to stand out in addition to performance, and in the field of efficiency because in addition to most cores, all M3 chipsets will use TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process, compared to TSMC’s 5nm process used in the M2 series. This change is expected to result in better autonomy and increased performance.

However, the MacBook Pro with the M3 Max is not expected to be released before 2024. By then, Apple is likely to offer affordable M3 chips with similar configurations to the base version of the M2. The base M3 SoC is expected to have eight CPU cores and up to 10 GPU cores, while the M3 Pro will start with 12 CPU cores and 18 GPU cores.

The first M3 devices are expected to launch in October 2023, including the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac. Other laptops and desktops featuring the M3 Pro and M3 Max (and possibly the M3 Ultra) may launch in the early months of 2024.
