Fire in rural area in Aethona Rhodes – Major mobilization of fire department

To deal with it, strong forces of the Fire Department, South Aegean Region, Rhodes Municipality and volunteers rushed to the area, while before 1:30, according to information from the authorities, the front was significantly reduced. Due to strong winds in the area, firefighters remain at the scene for fear of re-ignition.

The Mayor of Rhodes, Mr. Alexandros Goliadis spoke earlier about the difficult evening in his post on social media. He specifically states in his message: “Difficult night. We are all on foot from the first moment at the fire point in the Aithon area. Strong winds make extinguishing difficult. The fire department, Rhodes Municipality, forces of the South Aegean region and volunteers are working to contain the fire at the scene.
