Fotis Hatzidiakos: Former mayor of Rhodes dies

The former mayor of Rhodes, Fotis Hatzidiakos, died today at the age of 64, after a short, hard and uneventful “battle” with cancer.

Fotis Hatzidiakos was born in 1959 in Rhodes. He graduated from the Law School of the Greek University of Athens (1981) and since 1983 he has worked as a lawyer in Rhodes near the Supreme Court. Graduated in Political Science from the Athens University of Applied Sciences (2001) and received his Masters from the University of the Aegean (2008). He married Agabi Kalomiris, a Cretan notary of Rhodes, and they had a son, Sterkos.

Interacting with the public

Fotis Hatzidiakos involvement with the public began in 1999, where he served as Dodecanese Provincial Councilor until 2002, when he headed the Provincial Council for the next five years. For the three years 2007-2010, Fodis Hadzidiagos was Vice President, Development & Transport, Primary Department, and continued as Dodecanese Vice President for the South Aegean region. In 2014, he was elected Mayor of Rhodes, where he also served as President of the Regional Union of Municipalities (PED) of the South Aegean.

From 2019 to the present, he was a municipal councilor of Rhodes, while in the 2023 parliamentary elections, Fodis Hatzidiakos participated as a candidate for the Dodecanese Parliament with PASOK.
