Full speed forward to the 2024 road tax extension – step by step payment process

An extension to road tax payment for 2024 must be taken for granted as thousands of car owners wait for the final days of the year to pay it.

Circumstances are different this year, and the economy is in good shape, but it is possible that the extension that will be announced will be the same as last year, that is, until the end of February. The corresponding amounts are stated for each car owner on the myCar platform for at least two weeks.

Road Tolls 2024: Step-by-step payment process

Vehicle owners can pay toll fees through the AADE myCar platform in three ways.

First they print the notice and then they can:

• To visit the automated transaction machine and scan the Quick Response (QR) code for its notifications, by following the instructions that appear on the screen.
• Enter their bank application (e-banking) and pay using the 23-digit RF code shown in the notification.
• To visit a bank or ELTA branch and pay at the cash register by showing the notice.
• On the myCar platform, vehicle owners have two options:

In the first section entitled “Vehicle Toll Fees”, vehicle owners can learn about the following:

• Information about their vehicles
• Payment codes for them
• Payment codes in an Excel spreadsheet in case of multiple vehicles
• Obtaining the certificate for the vehicles owned by them for use in transporting vehicles, exporting vehicles abroad, and re-registering vehicles

In the second part, entitled “Immobility/Digital Traffic”, vehicle owners/owners have the possibility to do the following:

• To put passengers and two-wheeled special use vehicles in a state of digital immobility
• To raise digital silence
• Recover data already provided.

In order for vehicles to be digitally pinned/frozen, they must be pinned/frozen, respectively, and their license plates and other traffic information must be in the possession of their owners.

Road toll 2024: late payment penalty

• The fine is equivalent to the fee if the vehicle is a two-wheeler, three-wheeler IX or a passenger car
• A fine equivalent to 50% of the fees if the vehicle is a DX passenger
• There is no fine if the road tax is less than 30 euros.

Road Tax 2024: How to digitally immobilize a car

• You can connect to the only digital portal of public administration and more specifically to the myCAR application using Taxisnet codes.
• Select or enter the registration number of the vehicle you wish to digitally install. Enter your zip code, area, street and number.
• You are responsible for advertising your parking space, which must be privately owned, rented or allocated.
• Submit your application and if you are the sole owner, the system will give you an application number and notify you that the car has been digitally decommissioned. If there are co-owners, they will be notified of your request, and will need to approve it to complete the process.
• If the vehicle’s parking location is different during the “digital deadlock” period because it is rented, you must obtain a temporary license plate (M) to be able to move the vehicle to the new location.
• If you incorrectly fill in the vehicle parking data in the digital property application, you have the possibility to correct the parking address within the same day. Next year, you will have to call your DOY.
