Gallianos: “Temperatures won’t reach 48 degrees on Thursday” – When will the heat wave leave us?

More heat will hit us in the coming days.

With heat and extreme heat spreading across the country, Yiannis Kallianos wanted to… put things in their place and suggested calm for citizens in the coming days.

As noted by the meteorologist, this is not the first time that our country is facing such a heat wave, “This time it will be a little more in terms of its duration,” he notes in his post.

At the same time, he refuted forecasts that spoke of 48 degrees Celsius next Thursday, arguing that the much-desired drop in temperatures would begin on those days.

According to Yiannis Kallianos, the most difficult days of the heat wave are expected on Sunday (23/7) and Wednesday (26/7).

In detail, Yiannis Kallianos post

Please keep calm! Nothing could be more unreal!

This is not the first time Greece has experienced a severe heat wave. It has happened many times before. Only this time it lasts for a while. Hence, many heat waves have hit us in the past.

We have experienced extreme heat waves in 1987 (without air conditioners), 2000, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2017 and 2021. And moderate heat waves are experienced almost every year, and will continue to be! In all the years that I mentioned to you, the hot invasions lasted for several days, the maximum temperature reached 42-44 ° C, but sometimes 45-46 ° C and a little more locally (45 ° C in Elefsina in 2017 and 46.5 ° C in 2007).

It has been heard for several days that the temperature will reach 48 degrees Celsius next Thursday! For the sake of the Virgin Mary! And some pages even get “confused” by this rating and recreate it as if it will happen! No, we won’t reach that temperature.

The only difference is that this time the heatwave started on Wednesday July 12 and will probably end next Thursday July 27, where temperatures are expected to drop across the country, certainly not 48 degrees Celsius. In other words, it will have a duration of 16 days and will be the longest since it follows the duration of the 1998 heat wave of 14 days.

Tomorrow (Sunday 23/7) and Wednesday (26/7) are tough days, with temperatures reaching 43-45 degrees Celsius in many parts of the lowland mainland. But all the following evenings will be difficult as discomfort prevails, especially in big cities. Wait, 4 more days!

In fact, in Attica, from Monday, sea breezes will blow that will not allow the mercury to move too much along the Saronic coast.

So, it won’t be 48 degrees Celsius on Thursday but… around 36-37 degrees Celsius.

The only thing that scares me is that next Sunday’s heavy rain and the melty that follows could turn out to be an explosive mix (along with heat and dryness) for fires.
