Google adds ‘audio emoji’ feature with fart switch

The next update to the phone app from Google will add six new sound effects. The “audio emoji” has already appeared on Google Pixel mobile phone owners and plays a short audio clip, which call participants will be able to hear.

So there are emojis with corresponding sound effects for clapping, laughing, celebrating, crying, drumming and farting!

One X user said: “I was on the phone and saw a new button pop up… I had to call my brother to try it!”

Voice emojis work when the user taps one during a call. After that, the corresponding sound will be heard and the screen will display the corresponding animation.

It will come in the next few weeks

The update, which is in the testing phase and has not been released to all users, has caused mixed reactions.

“Did anyone ask for this? No. Would I use it? Yes,” one Reddit user said.

To prevent users from misusing sound effects, the tech giant intends to set a limit that prevents unnecessary use.

Voice Emoji is rolling out via Google’s latest phone update in the beta channel, version 128. It will likely roll out to all users in the coming weeks.
