Easter 1990: B High school student Christina says goodbye to her classmates and teachers at her school in Athens for the holiday. Together with his parents and his sister they will go to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection at their holiday home in Fidiotida. None of them imagined the tragedy that followed.
Christina, as everyone who knew her called her, was a girl with curly red-blonde hair who was the joy of life. She complains that no matter how much she eats, she does not gain weight.
Cristina will go to the cottage and the killer will be lurking there.. a 19-year-old named THK. ..the moment she is alone in the street and the moment she returns to her cottage he will take her in the carriage.
He surprises her and attacks her with the intention of raping her. She resists and tries to escape. He chases after her and shakes her because he is stronger than her. He won’t take no for an answer..He crushes her head with a plant.He leaves her there to die on the road..She dies in a few minutes.
The 19-year-old would leave, go home, and then pretend nothing had happened. From the beginning, the police have treated him as a suspect. They have testimony about his pre-offense behavior that he was “stalking” her.
At first he denies the crime but later confesses his act.
“I was afraid she would report me for trying to rush her,” he would tell the police. The anger of the family and the community as a whole is great.
THK will be sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance and a further eight years in Lamia in an episodic trial in which the girl’s mother slapped her daughter’s killer. The punishment he receives in the second degree is also severe. He will remain in prison until he is released on parole in 2013. Stopped going to the police station only three days ago.
Even today no one can give a rational explanation for the crime. A 19-year-old youth belongs to a poor family. After his release from prison he will return to his ancestral home in Rahes. He stays with his parents. Isolated, he talks to few. Even after serving the sentence, the loss of a woman’s life weighs heavily on everyone.
On Friday morning, a 55 year old now TH.P man drowned while trying to save a woman..sad comedy…the spot is just 20 meters from where he committed the heinous crime.
Unfortunately Christina’s family have never been back to the cottage since that bloody Easter 1990.
It is hermetically sealed, and anyone who passes by will be reminded of the curly-haired girl who was unfairly lost.
