“Map” of new salaries in the country

The public sector salary “map” changes completely as of January 1, 2024. This is due to increased salaries, family benefits and job allowances for civil servants.

In more detail, and based on the circular issued by the Ministry of Finance, the following will be applied:

Redefining the family allowance

The family allowance has been redefined as of 01.01.2024, which continues to be paid in accordance with the current terms and conditions:

The amount of the family benefit increases depending on the marital status of employees and is set at €70 for one child, €120 in total for two children, €170 in total for three children, €220 in total for four children and €70 for each additional child.

Adjusting the position of responsibility allowance

The compensation for the position of responsibility will be increased by 30% as of 01/01/2024 for the following cases:

Special library allowance for private researchers and scholars

Modifying the special working conditions allowance

Accordingly, the amount of the above allowance is reflected in the following tables:

Adjusting the allowance for officers of the Greek Armed Forces and Coast Guard, as well as the Greek Police and Fire Brigade

The monthly allowance stipulated in the provisions of Paragraph E of Article 127 of Law No. 4472 of 2017, which is paid to officers of the Armed Forces and Coast Guard – the Hellenic Coast Guard as well as the Greek police and firefighters who serve within the geographical boundaries of the Northern Aegean Region, the Evros Regional Unit, and the Southern Aegean Region (former Dodecanese Prefecture only), as well as officers of the Armed Forces working in detection units on the continental borders (Epis, Macedonia and Thrace), on the island of Skyros and the communities of Ziros and Paleokastro of the municipality of Sitia, as well as officers of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard working In the port authorities of Othon, Sagiada and Skyros, adjusted as of 01.01.2024 in the amount of one hundred and thirty (130) euros.

New maximum income

In addition, it was clarified that the maximum amounts for salaries and fringe benefits are formed as of 01/01/2024 as follows:

The maximum salary (general) for the Secretary General of the Ministry has been set at 5,121 euros.

The maximum amount of wages for judicial officers and key employees at NSK was set at 8,426.56.

-The maximum salary amount for ESY doctors is up to 6,454 euros.

The maximum salary for executive officials in the armed forces and security forces has been set at 5,615 euros.

Mileage compensation

The amount of mileage compensation for movements inside or outside the headquarters, when allowing the use of private transportation, increases as of 01/01/2024 and is set at twenty cents per kilometer.

Overnight expenses

As of 01.01.2024, the amount of recognized local residence expenses will increase and be determined as follows:

– First category up to 100 euros per night.

– Second category up to 80 euros per night.

The above amounts are increased by 30% for accommodation within the borders of the municipalities of Athens and Thessaloniki. It should be noted that a 30% surcharge still applies to stays in the island nation from May 1 to September 30 each year.
