Mr. Mitsotakis: SYRIZA distorts reality – water is not privatized

The citizens are waiting for us suggestionsAnd SolutionAnd projectsno Poisoning And Pointless fights,” he points out in his usual position Facebook For the weekly report of government work S Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The prime minister also points out the effort.”distortion Ha reality“L water By SYRIZA which shows that water is present natural monopoly And belongs In the statein government companies.

“Last week, a very important clause was passed in Parliament ensuring – for the first time, expressly by law, that water would remain a public good. It is unfortunate that The opposition is trying to distort reality, claiming that the government is promoting the privatization of water. Nothing more wrong. Water is a natural monopoly. It belongs to the state, to state corporationsThe Prime Minister explained.

At the same time, Mr. Mitsotakis reaffirms the Government’s commitment to gradually re-establishing railway routes, with increased security measures, with particular reference to the construction of digital business card in utilities.

The position of the Prime Minister in detail

Good morning everyone. Let me begin today’s review with my wishes to all Greek men and women in every corner of the world on the occasion of yesterday’s national anniversary on March 25th. The beginning of the struggle for freedom for our nation, but also the beginning of the two hundred and two march for the progress of our country.

Of course, this cycle has not always been linear. Unfortunately, there have been many setbacks that have delayed our national development. We have seen painfully – and recently and tragically – that we have not succeeded in building a country that radiates seriousness, responsibility and professionalism at all levels. We have improved in key areas, but we still have a lot of work to do. This is what citizens expect from political forces. They expect proposals, solutions and projects, not toxicity and pointless battles.

This is exactly what I try to emphasize in the Weekly Report: talking to you about projects, about the steps that are being taken each week, small and large.

So I will start with our commitment to gradually restarting rail services with increased safety measures. Each additional lines will be added every two weeks so that there will be full growth before Easter. At the same time, a new OSE Crisis Management Coordination Center has been set up and operating, with the participation of the Hellenic Police, the Fire Brigade, the EKAV, as well as the Hellenic Train in order to better monitor the security systems going forward. Quickly upgrade all the safety specifications of our rail network. We will do everything humanly possible for the Hellenic Railways to regain the confidence of the passenger public.

I believe that the implementation of the digital business card in public facilities, including OSE and ERGOSE, will contribute to this. It is something I decided it was necessary to do immediately, after what we saw happened at Larissa station on the fateful night of the accident, with the station managers who were absent from their posts and the notorious “voids”.

Thus, until the end of April, the Digital Job Card will apply to OSE and ERGOSE but also to fixed communications, OSY, OASA, OSETH, OASTH, Attiko Metro, Building Infrastructure, Egnatia Odos, EYDAP and ELTA, and will be important to approximately 18,000 employees.

I remind you that the digital business card has gradually begun to be applied in banks, supermarkets, branches of insurance companies and security companies. Through its application, the recording of hours is protected and the presence of employees in the workplace is certified in an unambiguous manner facilitating the immediate detection of false statements, both on the part of employers and on the part of employees.

Last week a very important clause passed in Parliament guaranteeing – for the first time, expressly by law, that Water remains a public good. It is unfortunate that the opposition is trying to distort the reality by claiming that the government encourages the privatization of water. Nothing more wrong. Water is a natural monopoly. It belongs to the state, to state corporations.

And so that there is no doubt, in Article 3 of the new law it is very clear that water providers are public and municipal institutions (the well-known Dubai Electricity and Water Authority). But perhaps it is not so well known that in Greece today there are 295 municipal organizations managing water. Therefore, today 62% of the water in them is wasted, only 42% of DEYAs publicly publish the data required by law, while in some cases there is twice as much water! Under Syriza, 9 fines were imposed and with this government 62 fines for all these problems. We must and we can do better. We want to correct them with an independent authority that constitutes public oversight with institutional continuity, and for this we need an independent body that takes control of these organizations, and this is exactly what was done with the bill.

I’m changing the subject entirely, and want to stress that there cannot be – we will not allow – ‘Galatian villages of lawlessness’ to exist in Greek territory. The law will be enforced in Mykonos. This is why we voted in favor of an amendment that would stop the issuance of building permits in non-planned areas of Mykonos, except for minimal exceptions that meet the legal requirements.

The competent authority for granting permits will be the Department of Architectural Engineering, Building Regulations and Permits of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, i.e. a central department of the Ministry in Athens. We put a barrier in front of every illegal act, in front of every illegal plan that is attempted to be carried out with extortion and illegal behavior.

The other thing that I consider very important is the development of the National Program for the Prevention and Control of Obesity, for both adults and children. The Ministry of Health has collaborated with the University of Western Attica and UNICEF, respectively, in order to prepare a plan to deal with obesity, a problem that has also taken dimensions in our country.

To give you an idea: based on recent data, only 30.3% of the general population fall within normal weight limits, while 37.6% are overweight and 32.1% are obese. 3 out of 4 families have at least one parent who is overweight or obese. Of course, obesity is not a matter of aesthetics. It is a matter of health, as it is a risk factor for many diseases. This is precisely why and efforts to combat it are part of the National Public Health Prevention Program “Spyros Doxiadis”.

So the program for adults allows, among other things, access to free services of specialized nutritionists, but also free joint specialist treatment in cases of severe obesity coexisting with serious chronic diseases.

On the other hand, the National Action Against Childhood Obesity targets children up to 17 years of age throughout the Greek territory. Of course, in this effort, the participation of both parents and educators is needed. The program provides free clinical evaluation and counseling on children’s health, growth and nutritional status, and free counseling services by appropriately trained health professionals.

Both programs are funded by the Greece 2.0 Recovery and Resilience Fund.

On the accuracy front now. It’s been 21 weeks since we introduced our Home Basket, which has kept the prices of hundreds of products stable. And this is not something we just say, but it has been confirmed by a scientific study conducted by EKPA and Philips University in Cyprus. But on this occasion, I would like to point out that Greece has the sixth lowest rate of food inflation in the European Union. in feb. Countries like France, Portugal, Germany, Belgium and Spain show higher rates of inflation than us.

Obviously, the introduced resolution has not gone away. However, we try to mitigate the consequences and will do so for as long as necessary. Thus, in the run-up to Easter, an “Easter Basket” will be created for supermarkets, with products such as lamb and goats, cakes and chocolates, and a “Godfather and Godmother’s Basket” will be exclusive to toy stores. These will start from the end of March and will run until the 15th of April.

The latest: A contract was signed this week to transfer the assets of HENA Shipyard in Skaramangas to a new investor, Mr Prokopiou. It is the result of a great effort we have put in to give a fresh perspective to our shipyards, and we are really pleased that after so many years of decline in a very important industry, our three shipyards will be back in business.

I leave you with a small but important image that we have all seen this week, that of the three parts of the frieze, the entablatures and the pediments of the Parthenon attributed to the Acropolis Museum by the Vatican Museums.

And thank you very much for your time.

Good luck and once again Merry Christmas everyone! “
