The Guild of Bakers of Athens, Suburbs & Surroundings (SAAPP) and the Municipality of Peristeri, in a unique celebration, this year on December 29, 2023 at the Town Hall Square – “Peristeri” metro station again created the largest King Pie. .
Mayor Andreas Pachaturidis cut the king cake in front of thousands of citizens from Peristeri and Attica, and of course everyone took a slice. Panagiotis Sahinidis, President of SAAPP, also delivered a congratulatory address.
Vasilopita consisted of 65 thousand pieces, exceeded 9 tons in weight and contained 200 flours associated with New Year's gifts.
Created by dozens of artisan bakeries (bakeries nearby). Experienced bakers took over the making of the king pie, which started making at dawn. Students of Baking – Confectionery School of EPA.S DYPA Galatsiou participated in the preparation.
Ingredients used to make the king cake: 5,500 kg flour, 1,700 kg sunflower oil – oil, 500 kg sugar, 520 kg dust, 5,000 eggs, 30 kg orange zest, 75 kg cognac, 70 kg ground cinnamon.
