Weak political puppets are what’s left – the end of…

The political leadership of the Ministry of Environment and Energy is considering setting a time limit for customers switching to the universal service provider in an astonishing and baseless development.

This issue was discussed in a conference call yesterday with the company Kostas Skrekas with electricity suppliers, as the number of those who do not have a contract with a provider due to debts and resort to the so-called universal service has increased significantly. It is not enough for the government in cooperation with private providers to transfer all the additional debts to customers, they are now demanding money from those who no longer have them.

In particular, about 35,500 meters were added to it in the second quarter of the year, bringing the total to 182 thousand meters, making it now the fifth largest provider. Universal service includes homes and small businesses with a supply capacity of up to 25 kVA, after termination of representation by their last supplier, without concomitant power outages.

What applies

They can stay on this service indefinitely (which is not the case in other EU countries) and although they face higher fees, they don’t run the risk of being interrupted if they don’t pay their bills. Suppliers – big sharks have asked the Home Office to implement the opinion of the RAE, which anticipates a maximum period of three months, with the exception of vulnerable consumers. At the same time, electricity providers are pressing the Ministry of Environment and Energy to place restrictions on the movement of customers from one company to another, anticipating an increase in arrears.
