WEEKEND FIRE WARNING – Fire danger is very high due to strong winds

The fire service has issued a warning for dangerous fire conditions as winds strengthen this weekend.

Although we entered autumn since yesterday, Greece continues to go through a very difficult summer in terms of climatic conditions. The coming weekend will be equally dangerous for fires due to extremely strong winds, especially in Attica, Boeotia, Evia, Evros and the North Aegean islands.

The Beauforts will be strong enough and will increase on Sunday, for which the above areas will be in Danger Category 4 (Orange) on the fire danger forecast map released by Civil Defense tomorrow, Saturday September 2nd.

For this reason, all the air and ground forces of the firefighting force will be outside, in a state of general alert throughout the country, to immediately deal with any fire outbreaks, which can quickly become dangerous due to extreme weather conditions. Dimensions.

At the same time, police and military forces continue with the battle on fire fronts, aerial surveillance patrols and patrols by fire.

The Secretariat of Civil Defense has informed the competent services and the zones and municipalities of these areas so that they are on high alert so that they can deal with fire immediately.

At the same time, it recommends that citizens be especially careful and avoid open-air activities that can cause fire (burning dry grass and branches, using machines that cause sparks such as circular saws and welding devices, using outdoor grills, smoking bees, etc.).
