6th generation iPad Pro with M2 SoC and significantly higher price – iPad

The sixth generation of iPad Pro is a reality and we expect it in our country starting next week, specifically from October 26.

Apple’s flagship tablet for the first time has an M2 SoC, which we first saw in MacBook Air and on the MacBook Pro 13 earlier this year. It will be available in the same screen size as before, i.e. 12.9 and 11 inches.

As in the 2021 update, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro features Mini LED display technology for improved black levels, better contrast, and more impressive HDR performance, while the smaller model sticks to a more basic screen. However, both support Apple’s ProMotion feature with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The latest iPad Pro also gets a “hover” function that detects the Apple Pencil when positioned slightly above the screen. This feature is similar to what owners of Samsung smartphones and tablets know, and as Apple says it allows the user to “see a preview of the point before taking any action.”

We’re seeing better wireless networks with support for the Wi-Fi 6E standard for the first time, while connectivity to 5G networks is compatible with “more 5G networks around the world.” The color options remain the same – only in silver and space gray while the storage is still up to 2TB. As before, the 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions come with 8GB of RAM, while the 1TB and 2TB iPad Pro expands the memory to 16GB.

Apple insists on the same set of accessories, but surprisingly, the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro doesn’t get the set of function keys found on the new entry-level iPad keyboard. And while the iPad’s primary camera is now positioned in landscape orientation, a more convenient place for video calls, the iPad Pro still holds it at the top when the user holds it vertically.

The new iPad Pro retains the same design that Apple has been using since 2018, when the company first removed the home button in order to make more screen space. Of course, this design is far from being a “full screen design”, as Apple stated, as there are still noticeable margins around the screen, with the 4-year series closing in with the same design.

Apple stated that the file iPadOS 16, the latest major software update for the platform, will be released on October 24, including Stage Manager. Stage Manager is touted as “a new way to multitask and get things done with ease,” but was not well received by some professional iPad users during beta testing, with many criticizing its performance. Apple has responded to some comments about the feature by delaying support for external display and expanding the feature to support it More iPad models.

As with the simple 10th generation iPad announced at the same time today, the new iPad Pro will come to market at a much higher price than its predecessor. Indicatively, taking a look at the Apple Store in Italy, we see that the original 11-inch model with 128GB of storage costs 1069 euros, and goes up to 2449 euros for the 2TB model. Accordingly, the 12.9-inch model comes at a price of 1,469 euros for the 128GB model, with a higher price tag of 2,849 euros for the 2TB version. Prices are expected to be higher in our country.
