A bear appeared in a village near Thessaloniki. Perhaps it was detected in the municipality of Pelaya – Hordiatis and disturbed the citizens.

This time, the wild animal passed through the courtyards of houses in Petrokerasa, Thessaloniki, for three days and left its footprints on the country roads.

According to reports from residents from Petrokeraza to Livadi, the bear destroyed some bees on its way. It should be noted that traces of him have recently been found in various locations around Thessaloniki and residents are worried about the situation.

The decentralized administration of Macedonia Thrace draws attention to citizens and beekeepers and livestock keepers operating in areas and settlements where the bear has appeared, to be careful and take preventive measures to avoid the animal’s approach.

In particular, he recommends specific ways to get rid of the bear. According to them, the bear should not feel threatened by humans, while its standing posture is a behavior of detection or fear and not an expression of attack.

It is recommended to collect garbage frequently, use covered bins and clean up the residues of last year’s harvest in neighboring fields. If anyone is near the bear, they must remain calm, do not try to move it in any way, do not shout, do not make sudden movements, do not go towards it, but remain motionless or resist the head. Slow step. Additionally, one should not approach the animal to photograph it or its cubs.
