An employee of the Municipality of Meteora has been on sick leave since 2011
When the mayor of Meteora, Lefteris Avramopoulos, wanted to know how many employees work in his municipality and what they do, he couldn’t believe his eyes because he found an employee on sick leave for 13 years.
According to trikalavoice, the area’s new mayor, Lefteris Avramopoulos, requested a list of municipal employees and performance reports from superiors. As it turned out, some municipal employees made “guest” appearances, one of whom had not come since 2011 due to sick leave.
The Mayor conducted a surprise inspection of the municipal services and ordered all employees to return to their posts immediately. “We are not playing games here”, Mayor Lefteris Avramopoulos told local media, “All elected officials and employees are obliged to work every day to build a municipality that we dream of and owe to. There is no tolerance for anyone.”
