The increase in Greek visitor interest in short-term rental housing through the Airbnb platform seems to be skyrocketing. According to the company’s own data, searches for accommodation this summer (from Greeks) have recorded an increase of more than 70% compared to last year. At the same time, another noticeable trend is the desire of a large percentage of Greeks to spend several days in the housing that they are going to rent, possibly combining not only their vacation, but also their work.
This trend started during the epidemic period, especially in destinations close to Attica or even within the basin, for example. In beach destinations along the coast, such as Varkiza, Anavezos, Sounio, Lagonisi, Porto Rafti, Saronida. According to Airbnb, more than one in seven bookings made by Greeks, nearly 15%, are for a stay of at least 28 days.

The 10 cheapest destinations in Greece, which offer accommodation at prices under $100/night (90€) are Kallithea Attica, Chios, Pangio (North Macedonia and Thrace), Neapolis Sikyon Municipality (Central Macedonia), Ermoupoli (Syros), Ikaria, Kos, Lefkada, Thessaloniki, Thermaikos.
For the list of the 10 most desirable (by Greeks) accommodation in Greece, properties in island destinations stand out, starting with a cave house in Santorini, a villa with a pool in Apokoronas in Chania, a villa in Kathisma in Lefkada, a villa in Kefalonia, … a bathroom in Tinos, pavilions with a pool in Milos, villas in Malevizi in Chania and Santorini, as well as residences in Mykonos and Leros.
