AFP was not able to independently confirm this information. At the moment, the Ukrainian Navy has not commented on the announcement.
“Yuri Oliverenko” is a landing ship, formerly known as “Kirovograd”. It was renamed in 2016 in honor of the Ukrainian officer who was killed in 2015 near Mariupol. In June 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decorated the ship’s crew for their “heroism” in defending the country. Source: RES – BEE
