Despite huge investments in research and development, specific plans for monetization of this service sector have not been finalized. However, Roh hinted that Samsung will offer more robust paid features to subscribers in the future.
For now, research suggests that a segment of users will adequately value existing AI features as free. However, the door appears open for premium feature additions on top of the core experience that will be funded through subscription revenue. Roh said Samsung will weigh various factors when formalizing decisions before the 2025 deadline.
Roh also expected Galaxy AI to appear in 100 million of the company's devices, not only in new models but also in the company's older models.
Owners of Galaxy S23 series smartphones are already receiving the relevant update, while the same will happen for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, the Galaxy S22 series and the new Galaxy Tab S9 tablets. Galaxy AI will be seen in more models released throughout 2024.
Currently, Samsung is focusing on improving capabilities and expanding the availability of AI functions in the Galaxy S24, as momentum around AI grows.
