“We spent a very difficult evening learning about the fires of the homeland”

The women’s national polo team crushed Argentina 21-2 at the Fukuoka World Aquatics Championships, as team coach Alexia Camino tackled fires ravaging Greece.

Alexia Camino, coach of the women’s national polo team, pointed to the fires affecting Greece, hoping that they will be the last to happen this summer.

“We had a very difficult evening. All the Greek women are here and they know what is happening back home. Let it be the last thing that happens this summer,” he said after the match.

Mention about the racing part: “The truth is that there is a difference in the ability of the teams. But today I am happy because we tried to play more organized in attack, and we did not make hasty counter-attacks and showed our readiness in the tactical part of the attack mainly, to face our great opponent Italy tomorrow. Our minds are there.”

We rested some players to be more prepared for the match against Italy. It will definitely be a close game. We know Italian women very well and so do they. We have to be very careful in our defense, not to concede goals easily, and if we are good at these stages, I think the offensive talent is there. If we keep the right pace, it will help us a lot. It is a game of special psychological significance.”
