Friends and family bid farewell to the once powerful and global jeweler
At 10 am on Saturday, the funeral of a famous jeweler, Yannis Vourakis.
Relatives and some friends gathered at the first grave to say their last goodbyes to Yiannis Vourakis. Among them was Kostas Kaisaris.
News of Giannis Vourakis’ death on 7/9 came from his sister Liana who wrote on Facebook: “Rest in peace my Giannis”.
Who is Yannis Vourakis?
Together with his sister Liana and his cousin Leonidas, they continued the family tradition created by his grandfather Ioannis. They ventured into jewelry and leveraged the brand’s significant history to become industry leaders.
The first son of Christos Vourakis and Maria Kolympadis, he was an elite member of Athenian high society. The opening of his last luxury store in the early 1990s was characteristically attended by all the cream of the capital.
Next to Vourakis is his wife, Jenny (Genevie Balthazar), with a wide smile. They met in Haiti when the former visited the country on business.
