EA Sports FC 24: Redesign without “FIFA” or something more? – review

This year for EA Sports is a special and exciting year because we are in the post-FIFA era and we will have to get used to it. You see, EA and FIFA have “parted” after three decades and for the first time there is no EA-branded FIFA title. At some point, a regular FIFA will come with another publisher and developer’s stamp (everyone thinks 2K is a capable contender), but that’s something that will be discussed in due course. We now have EA Sports FC 24 or simply EA FC 24 or FC 24 – whatever you want to call it – in our hands. We’ll just have to get used to the new name, but you and your friends can easily call it “FIFA 24.” And it is correct to call it, because although something has changed visually, there are many other aspects that remain unchanged.

Overall, EA FC 24 does not come to reinvent the wheel for EA and “football”. It’s here to fill another football season with its digital spheres, making a few changes here and there so that to the viewer it looks like they’re playing the same game, but for someone who’s been involved a lot it will look like a completely different ‘learning curve’, until they get used to the new rhythms of FC 24.

He has clearly changed the menu that has moved away from the boxes we are used to, to a more simple, direct and old-fashioned user interface, while maintaining the “FIFA” identity in many places. The show also offers a highly televised experience and perhaps the best yet. From the cheering crowds, to the mini-interviews with the players shortly after the end of the match, to the most detailed statistics on each player’s performance.

At this point, I must say that there are also some 3D graphics that have been integrated into the gameplay and depict for example the most tired players. While these things are useful, they are also distracting and annoying when seeing what is happening on the field. I think it should be implemented differently and as little as possible. Of course, this “panel” was necessary to remove some of the grain and make the player feel like they were entering…another store. But do not be fooled, it is the same “FIFA” with all its good and bad.

And let’s get to the nitty gritty of it, namely the “playable” feel of EA FC 24. What I once felt on console was the heaviness and speed of the game. By far the most balanced by default, so much so that I didn’t have to lower it to slow down or crank it up to a fast pace. The biggest change to gameplay is how you place markers and move, with Hypermotion V playing a role in that.

Its method is more simulated, as containing it with X/A is not enough and it must be pressed with the B/Circle key. Shielding, i.e. protecting the ball with the footballer’s body, will also play a major role this year in terms of possession. However, there is an abnormal “ping pong” between attackers and defenders, especially if both players know how to mark and counter each other’s balls or passes.

FIFA’s classic and incurable ‘Zigzag’ also looms like a ghost in EA FC 24, causing unnatural overruns and body slips in many cases, rather than forceful and natural collisions. Here you have to look at EA, because this joke has been going on for a long time and it’s a shame that the pace of gameplay is undermined because of it.

In terms of AI, I can say that defensively they are doing a much better job this year, based on my own experience. But unfortunately, the machine learning that was supposed to be implemented is not useful in putting it forward forcefully. Here, the new type of hand passes and high balls that can be made is a tool for beginners, but something you rarely see in casual situations. They can confer advantages and open up opportunities, sure, but it takes practice and time, something only “burnt out” people like me will do.

And this is where I come in to talk about case training. Yes, EA FC 24 offers a full, in-depth training program to teach everyone their secrets, but I feel like it’s missing one obvious element. According to me, since EA is supposed to turn the page with FC 24, they should also add a “what’s new this year” training mode which will let anyone know what new features the game is focusing on this year and which will have them training in such situations. This should help even the casual gamer appreciate any improvements and additions that EA Sports has made to this year’s game, otherwise one would learn it verbally or have to go to YouTube and watch…tutorials.

I really liked the addition of a medium-speed run with the R1/RB instead of a hard run with the R2/RT trigger, which is more likely to open the ball too much and miss it. Whoever uses intelligently controlled running will have greater chances of scoring. This is very clear.

Challenges in the air have become more difficult and fairer in terms of the positioning that must be taken. However, I think we will have a serious problem this year with the goalkeepers, because in many cases they have not responded as expected, to a disappointing degree.

The above is a natural conclusion, given that this is generally one of the years with the highest number of errors that FIFA could ever suffer from. I saw hands holding hands in celebration, conflicts, strange behavior and many technical issues – even in the first hours of launch – related to the Internet.

This year is the first year that the internet hasn’t gotten me in and kept kicking me out, and this has been a topic that has been brought up publicly in various community forums. I haven’t been enjoying my online groups and I have to say it’s hurt my experience, but I’m not giving up hope of fixing it. So my EA?

Manager Career mode is the most interesting offline mode one can play, as it balances ‘manager’ with action within the four lines. You can choose the coach you want from a few hundred licensed coaches from different leagues. Of Greek interest, Jovanovic of Panathinaikos and Almeida of AEK are present, but not Lucescu of PAOK, who is the third.the The Greek team as a whole is included in EA FC 24. Unfortunately, Olympiacos and the Greek national team are missing as was the case last year. After choosing a coach, you can choose your own vision with the tactical vision to faithfully implement the style of play that your team will follow.

In Ultimate Team, things remain unchanged at EA Online Casino, as one will not see progress and progress with their team if they do not “sell out”, and not small amounts at that. The more panini bags you buy, the more likely you are to build something. The slight balance comes from card evolutions as they evolve (like a Pokemon) by completing objectives and their stats are upgraded, gaining more value. While progression goals are acceptable, money still talks when it comes to building an Ultimate Team.

However, I can’t understand how women’s soccer balances out with men’s soccer in Ultimate Team, as the rhythms and feel are completely different at the start of the match. Here you will be able to form mixed teams if you wish, without affecting the pace of play.

Visually, EA Sports FC 24 isn’t a huge upgrade over last year. Yes, it has some better textures, shadows, physics (especially player clothing) and lighting than last year, highlighting the PS5/Series

Likewise, the change to EA FC and perhaps the fact that it lost favor with some player licences, meant it was unable to scan faces and physiognomy for the year. I saw faces of players and coaches that were not what they should be, let’s put it that way. In television presentation, I encountered some errors in the “cameras” that passed through billboards or stadium poles.
