GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards will feature a new 16-pin PCIe Gen6 power connector – Nvidia

For the fourth time in three years Nvidia That's about to change The power connector in GeForce RTX 50-series “Blackwell” architecture graphics cards.

The new 16-pin connector will likely have 16 pins dedicated to delivering 12V, as well as signal ports (if any) that claim the channel Moore's Law is dead On YouTube. Today's 12V-2×6 connector has 12 pins intended for power delivery.

After several years of using the popular 8-pin PCIe connector, NVIDIA has started making GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Founders Edition graphics cards use the 12-pin Molex MicroFit connector. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti essentially helped standardize the 12VHPWR link, which debuted in the wider segment of the GeForce RTX 40 product line for the “Ada Lovelace” architecture (all models with TGP, or total graphics power above 200W).

However, in the face of growing complaints about the reliability of 12VHPWR, some manufacturers of GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards have started using the pin-compatible but more durable 12V-2×6 connector. The implementation and use of the 16-pin PCIe Gen 6 connector will be the fourth change in connector type this year, if the rumors are indeed true (according to Other sources(NVIDIA will not make any changes to the power connector). According to the information, competitor AMD does not intend to move forward with the transition to this particular connector from the classic 8-pin PCIe connectors.
