Nikola Jokic made history by becoming Finals MVP honoree after becoming the lowest pick to win the award after being selected #41 in the 2014 NBA Draft. Check out the 40 players selected by him, including his teammate, Aaron Gordon.

Denver celebrates. Serbia celebrates. The Nuggets won their first ever championship and Nikola Jokic was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.

The Serbs had a legendary season. He broke many records during the year. However, one of his most special records was broken when he was awarded the “Bill Russell Award”, which is given to the MVP of the Finals. The reason is that at that moment he became the lowest draft pick in league history to win the relevant award, having been selected 41st overall in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Jokic thus broke the record of Dennis Johnson, who was selected in 1979 as the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player with the Seattle SuperSonics, who selected him 29th overall in the 1976 NBA Draft.
