Microsoft CoPilot is now available as a standalone app for iPhone and iPad – Microsoft

The official Copilot app for iOS and iPadOS is available now In the App Store completely free.

Apple device owners didn't have to wait long for their Android counterparts who received the app as a Christmas gift from Microsoft just a few days ago.

The AI Assistant, or your “daily AI companion” as Microsoft's sales department likes to say, allows you to ask almost anything, write emails, compose stories or scenarios, summarize complex texts and much more.

Perhaps the best feature of Copilot is the fact that it is based on OpenAI's GPT-4 language model, giving you essentially free access to the more powerful Large Language Model (LLM) that is usually hidden behind ChatGPT's paywall.

The iOS app also acts as an image generator by creating AI-powered artwork right on your mobile device. For these purposes, the Copilot DALL-E 3 application from OpenAI is used. “By combining the power of GPT-4 with the imaginative capabilities of DALL-E 3, Copilot not only improves your design workflow, but can also take your creativity to inspiring new heights,” Microsoft says.

If you don't prefer the smartphone or tablet experience, you can always run the standalone Copilot web service on your desktop or laptop computer, either through the Edge browser or directly from copilot.microsoft.com.

Overall, the Redmond company is putting a lot of emphasis on broader availability of Copilot, with more use cases across its product portfolio. In just the past two weeks, Microsoft has added Copilot to Dev Tools in Edge to help developers troubleshoot issues. It has further expanded its capabilities under the Microsoft 365 roadmap, released a standalone Android app, and made Copilot publicly available on GitHub after a long testing period.

There is no doubt that Copilot is a top priority for the company, as its representatives have repeatedly compared its importance to the Start button in the Windows operating system, describing it as “the entry point into the world of artificial intelligence from your computer.”
