Algis Campanos: His parents are in court

Shortly before today’s (07.06.2023) verdict on the 12 murdered in Thessaloniki, the parents of Alkis Kampanos came to court.

The hall of Thessaloniki’s criminal court is expected to be packed. On one side of the hall, there will be friends and relatives of Alkis Kampanos, among whom his parents attended almost all the court sessions, while on the other side will sit the relatives of the accused.

“Today is a difficult day for the two survivors, the parents of the rescued children, but above all for the grieving Kampano family,” Alexis Gougias said upon arrival.

“Today is tough for the 12 defendants as it is accountability day,” the lawyer said, while pointing out that the 12 showed courage from day one to the last. “From day one they have shown serious disrespect to the late Alkis and his family and to the Greek society that is investigating the investigation today,” he said.

Say we are there, we saw everything, but No one stabbed us. That’s the worst thing about this case. For a year and a half now, Greek society has been tested against this shameful behavior.”

“We should all be quiet and wait for those who will speak after a year and a half of silence: the judges,” he noted.
