As is known, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is a multi-chip, which in its kit includes two 8-core CCDs (the CPU assembler dies). According to the results, the cores in CCD-1 are “recorded” at higher boost frequencies than in CCD-2, with the difference sometimes being within 300MHz.
In the CapFrameX It was found that when CCD-2 is disabled, on a PC running Windows 11 22H2, the processor delivers higher performance in games, by up to 10%.
This is due to the fact that the cores in CCD-2, which also display the lowest boost frequency, no longer take part of the game’s processing load because they are disabled. In addition, the CCD-1 has at its disposal full power – up to 230 W – and as a result, its cores “reach” each time and “keep” the boosted maximum operating frequency for a longer time.
